A stroll in 19th Century Normandy with Joseph Le Dieu
On Friday 3rd March, the Société Jersiaise welcomed the vernissage of the exhibition Balade dans la Normandie du XIXè siècle, introducing the private drawing collection by Joseph Le Dieu, a lawyer from Avranches. The exhibition was organised by the Alliance Française de Jersey in collaboration with la Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche and the Société Jersiaise which also hosted part of the collection.
The works was divided into the following themes:
• Rural landscapes in parallel by the artist P. J. Ouless at the Société Jersiaise. The P. J. Ouless drawings are part of the Lord Coutanche Library collection.
• Twinned towns with Jersey at the Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche
• Trade, buildings, people and animals at the Alliance Française de Jersey

A selection of Norman delicacies were offered for tasting during the evening. The vernissage was well attended.
