The Section has been meeting for more than 100 years and many learned members have published numerous articles on the geology of Jersey. We continue to study the geology of the rock types, their structure and history, and the present landscape, through field visits, talks and presentations researched by members. In this way, we introduce new members to all aspects of Geology, Mineralogy and Gemmology, and Hydrogeology.
We have some laboratory facilities at La Hougue Bie, where there is also the Geology Museum, and where we prepare specimens for more detailed examination.
We also work with the Archaeology Section and help with identification and context of finds.
