Fundraiser for Nigel Quérée Environment Award

Nigel’s interest in the Environment was sparked at a public meeting in the 1970’s where a member of Concern gave an inspiring speech. He joined Concern and became an active member, writing and researching for the pressure group. After the flooding of Queen’s Valley he decided to stand for the States and became a Senator, and was President of the Planning & Environment Department. He raised many environmental issues whilst in the States & was instrumental in the development of the Island Plan. He was an active member of the Société, serving for some time on the Executive Committee. His early death was very sad and left a vacuum of many kinds. The Société wanted to honour his memory by creating this Environment Award.

A fun night was had by all!

We had a really successful evening, the Société’s first Quiz night generously hosted by Colin Adams, quiz master extraordinaire with a fun mix of general knowledge, puzzles and riddles. We had a Raffle, a ‘Top Hat pound draw’ and raised a grand total of £1,257. We had several requests to repeat the event. What better way to spend a cold February night, so pencil it in for next year!
